I know I say this every time, but I can’t believe that Clara is a year old. It doesn’t seem like a whole year since I photographed her as a newborn, smiley with a full head of hair. Now she has a couple of teeth, is about to start walking any moment, and has a huge personality. I hope to get to photograph this family every year as she keeps growing up (not too fast please!)

You never know how a cake smash is going to go–sometimes babies are actually not into the sweetness or messy feeling of the frosting all over them. I can’t say I blame them there. But Clara killed it, she didn’t let a little light rain ruin this sugar marathon. I MIGHT have tasted a little frosting in the “cleaning up process” as well. Hey there, Sweet Bakery, I will be coming for cupcakes!

This was my first time at my new favorite family photo spot, a little park of a quiet-ish road in Newton. We had the place to ourselves and found a perfectly blooming rhododendron to park ourselves in front of, and then an amazing view of the trees on a little path hidden in the back of the park. This park is a hidden gem!

I hope you enjoy the photos from this family session, let me know what you think in the comments!

This little guy is one touch cookie. I photographed Jackson, on his due date, at 6 weeks old. No lie, he slept better than most one week old babies I have in my studio! As a newborn photographer, I am always trying to keep these babes asleep the entire session. I send instructions ahead of the session with tips to keep them sleeping through the shoot, I play white noise on a special machine, heat up the studio to keep them comfortable, and have mastered the duel butt pat/forehead stroke. And of course the sleeping angelic newborn photos are the number one goal here. He was conked out for most of the session, until the very end, where we got a ton of amazing faces. While this happens pretty often at some point during my newborn sessions, I think I’m going to make a point of capturing these kinds of awake streaks in every session. You really get to see their little personalities. Smiles, yawns, sneezes, and all. I cant wait to see Jackson grow up and continue to turn into a little person!

Little Eliza was pretty small peanut, but man, does she have some cheeks! Such a cutie and Mom and Dad were a pleasure to work with!

This little nugget slept perfectly the whole session. The best part was mid-session, he went from a huge smile to a quick cry, and back to sleep. So cute!
