Photographer | Hiker | Stargazer | Baby Whisperer | Coffee Addict
Welcome to Whitney G Photography! I'm Whitney. If you couldn't tell already, I'm a Boston-based baby photographer. While I'm not photographing babies and families, I'm spending my free time hiking around national parks, sampling beer flights at breweries, or drinking loads of coffee. I love wandering around Boston with my boyfriend, hanging out with my parents at the cape, or playing with my neighbor's dog Oakley. I am also obsessed with photographing the stars, beautiful lakes and mountains, or architecture in cities. On any given day, you may find me eating burritos from Los Amigos, drinking on the roofdeck at the Seaport Legal Seafoods, shopping at REI in Fenway, or kayaking on the Charles with friends.
One of my passions besides taking photos of tiny toes and fingers, is traveling. I'm attempting to visit all of the 58 US National Parks. I hiked around Acadia in Maine in the Summer of 2015, enjoying one of my favorite hikes of all time to the peak of Cadillac Mountain, where the sun rises first in the US. A trip to California with a stint at Yosemite National Park also tops the list, with a hike to the top of Nevada Falls. While I love trekking in the wilderness, visiting amazing cities, like London, aren't half bad either.
I found my love for photography in college, where I used my father's completely manual film camera (a Canon AE-1 that HE used in college) and learned darkroom processing techniques and studied all forms of Studio Art and Art History to receive my Bachelors degree.
After school, I photographed weddings here and there, but found my true passion for photographing babies after one of my good friends asked me to photograph her newborn son. After years of photographing babies, I can't imagine doing anything else!
One of the best things about photographing newborns is photographing the babies as they grow up! I love doing milestone sessions with 3 month-olds doing tummy time with lots of smiles, or 6 month-old sitters with their chunky rolls, all the way to one year old cake smashes. Having families choose me to take their annual family photos in the Fall and Summer is the best compliment I could be given. I love seeing the kids grow up year after year, and being a part of their lives.
